This is my first review i am publishing on this site. I have been using reliance netconnect for about 2 months. My overall impression was very negative. It made sure that i suffer. A wireless internet connection for my laptop which has roaming capability all through india was my requirment.
After a basic search, the options i had was TATA Plug2Surf, Reliance Netconnect, Reliance Broadband plus, Airtel Mobile office and Idea Netsetter.
My first try was Airtel Mobile office, the service and bad, i could get only about 1-2 kbps speed on average.
Second was Tata Plug2Surf. From several articles online and my past experience with other products i came to know tata has several billing problems and their service is too bad.
I got hold of a Reliance Netconnect as broadband plus unlimited cost Rs. 1750.
Netconnect Device cost: Asked 2800, i bargained for rs 2600
Plan: 20gb for RS. 827 including tax (dont think u can use 1/2 of it)
Installation: Easy
Service Circle: Kerala
Presale service: awesome
I came home with the device, started using, these are my statistics
Average Download speed: download: 2-4 kp upload: 1-2 kb (my dialup gave similar speed)
The thing was too slow for basic browsing. In simple words, Gmail wont work (using html version). Several refreshes sometimes can load orkut
After few days i got a rs 300 bill, fine, afterall i have no other option, the device has no buyback offer.
I got another call from reliance and asked me “is rs 1200 credit limit fine for you” i confirmed with my address etc.
After some days on a fine morning i was preparing for a demo Product presentation to a important person, while trying to connect, it just wont connect and i got a sms “Your bill is generated, please pay to continue service” i have 15 days for the last payment date, but i cant connect, i contacted customer care quickly, they say u have to pay the bill to continue. I told my bill is just generated i didnt even receive bill on post, please enable it. Simple reply: Please contact your nearest web world. When i asked for the reson, they said “your rental is 827 but you have credit limit of 500 only”. As my meeting was at a coffeshop and no wifi was available, we had to postpond the demo.
Later i contacted Reliance customer care, i said i have paid the last bill correctly, i just need the service you have promised, i didnt even make a single call or sms of this device, i was told i had 1200 credit, could you please increase the credit limit equal to rental so i will get the service for what i am paying for “We are providing you service for what you are paying for” i didnt like the tone of that lady, my last question was “So i will get a disconnection like this on every bill generation. They said yes, i asked for any solution . They asked me for a deposit to just increase the credit limit equal to rental. For every question of mine they have only one answer “Please contact your nearest webworld”
Webworld was about 15kms away, i got over their and asked for it, they made some entries and collected my bill amount and activated the service.
The bill says i used 5gb transfer, i dont know how… i tried to download a 1gb database in one weeks time, other than that just browsing. Video, audio wont work, even gmail orkut wont work. Nothing works to use 5gb.
You pay rs. 827 but the service you get wont even compete with your BSNL 250 plan, including everything.
You cant browse more than 2pages at a time, if u have a download at background, you cant browse so dont think of it…
Yes it is fast upto 8kb after 2am in the morning. Also dont think you can put a active download at night and go to sleep as u cant do at morning, it gets disconnected after some download.
Bsnl evdo was faster than this, i borrowed it once from my friend for a presentation at st.teresas college cochin
and bsnl just cost some 400 rs rent too… i heard he never got bill, and he never paid for past 6months and never got disconnected too… the only reason i didnt look at it was it didnt had roaming facility, but i belive Bsnl started roaming for EVDO now
I want to change Reliance Netconnect to something else before next disconnection and running behind that.
I am ready to sell, do anyone want it 
Wow..i had a similar experience. They blamed the network for slow speeds. They gave me a 8.3 GB bill (average speed of 4Kbps..it will take almost 200 days for a 8Gb transfer). I got the product with a cashback offer so i gave back the product in another shop and never payed the bill. Next thing is saw is they sued me..a “Vakil Notice” came…but that is the last i heard from them..
Mr. Ashwsin casle also same to me . I used 650 plan with unlimited . Itook this because i wanted to access mails and browse in other cities like trivandrum from chennai . Howevr this is not working an these cities , throwing and defeating my very purpose as i use AIRTEL unlimted 1100 option landline broadband , which is very well ok . One fine evening relaince net connect caleld me that i shoudl increase my crdit to 5000 if further browsing required . i shocked , i reaely used this as i wanted to return . First 2 months the billing was oj within 650 /- , 3 rd moonth they started looting and threatening to send peole to home and they refuse to give break up of the bills . they harrass and finally send lawyet notcice , now i dont know how to deal these ambani crooks . blood suckers , no moral , no ethics .
